Dog Translator Turn Woofs Into Words!
The Bow-Lingual Dog Translator
Every pet owner knows the importance of understanding their dog's needs.
But sometimes decoding what your dog is trying to say seems impossible!
Not anymore. With the Bow-Lingual dog translator, you can know what your
dog is saying to you every time. Be a better teacher to your dog. Give
your dog the care he or she deserves. With more effective communication,
you can be happier, better best friends.
Now people can understand their dogs better than ever before with a
gadget that translates doggy talk into human words. Bow-Lingual, the new
device made by toymaker Takara Co. has dogs saying things like "I'm
feeling great!" "It's so annoying!" and "Come on, play with me!" Kids
and grown-ups alike are fascinated by the thought of finding out what
their canine buddies are really thinking.
Bow-Lingual is the first product to feature the Japan Acoustic
Laboratory's advanced Animal Emotion Analysis System, a sophisticated
voiceprint technology that allows dogs and their owners to communicate
more easily.
When your dog barks, Bow-Lingual's Bark Translation Mode beams the sound
from the collar microphone to the handheld receiver, and matches it to
the doggie database. The sound is analyzed using a multi- point system,
and then transformed into words and illustrations on the LCD screen. In
Data Analysis Mode, can track your dog's emotions over time.
Home Alone Mode records your dog's emotions while you're out at work all
day. Also includes a Body Language Translation Mode, a Training Mode and
a Medical Reference Mode. Uses 5 "AAA" batteries, included.
The Bow-Lingual is preprogrammed with settings for 50 different breeds,
and people who have dogs of other breeds or of mixed breed can choose
from among six settings, depending on the dog's size and muzzle length.
This means that the device translates a dog's voice according to the dog
type. It took two years for the manufacturer to develop the device with
the cooperation of a vet who is also an animal behavior specialist. In
addition to giving us insight into canine thought, the Bowlingual can
also help us do a quick health check by responding to a series of
questions about a dog's condition.
How It Works
1) Transmitting Barks: The Bow-Lingual microphone attaches to your
dog's collar. Your dog barks and the receiver on his collar with the
microphone digitizes the bark.
2) Receiving Barks: The bark is then transmitted to your Bow-Lingual
Handset.
3) Analyzing Barks: The Animal Emotion Analysis System analyzes the
bark and determines the most accurate translation.
4) Translating Barks: The translation is displayed. Now you know
what your dog just said!
Why It Works - The Technology
The Bow-Lingual is based on groundbreaking voiceprint and behavior
analysis conducted at the renowned Japan Acoustic Laboratory. Dr.
Matsumi Suzuki of the lab created voiceprints of over 5,000 dog bark
samples, determining that there are six fundamental patterns to dog
barks. Dr. Suzuki and his staff videotaped each sample and then worked
with animal behaviorists from the prestigious Kogure Animalo Hospital,
veterinarians and the dogs owners to identify which emotion was being
expressed. This research concluded that the six voiceprint patterns
statistically correspond to six basic emotions: happy, sad, frustrated,
on-guard, assertive and needy. This system was codified into the Animal
Emotion Analysis System (AEAS).
Bow-Lingual was featured in TIME Magazine’s “Best Inventions of 2002” list and is an
“O List” Oprah-recommended product.
